PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS

Future Climate Australia was formed in 2007 and, until late 2014, focused primarily on becoming a leader in the area of mobility, fuel efficiency and transport. In the past 12-18 months it has shifted focus to also encompass the food security and business adaptation sectors.

Future Climate Australia has been integral in the development and implementation of a wide range of practical initiatives that have contributed to the improvement of fuel efficiency measures in passenger vehicles, as well as an active contributor, via its CEO Henry O'Clery, in the development of policy in the automotive sector.

These initiatives include:

  • The LEV Automotive Partnership: FCA established this Partnership with the RACV and the EPA (Victoria) to promote better fuel economy for light vehicles in Australia;
  • The Global Fuel Economy Initiative: FCA facilitated an international conference and stakeholder consultation with the GFEI and Australian federal government;
  • Forum and Drive Days: FCA has arranged for fleet managers and decision makers to test drive low emission vehicles and engage in industry roundtable forums;
  • Representation at events such as Challenge Bibendum, Cenex Low Carbon Vehicle Events & International Transport Forum to facilitate engagement between stakeholders on sustainable transport initiatives;
  • Cars of Tomorrow: an annual Conference organised by FCA, AutoCRC and SAE(A) that, since 2012, has brought together top international and local automotive experts to tackle the key issues and challenges facing the industry;
  • Giving over 50 presentations to a combined audience of over 3,500 people on issues relating to sustainable transport, fuel economy and mobility.
